COBRA is the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1985. The act allows employees and dependents who no longer qualify under an employer’s group plan to continue health coverage. COBRA is required for employers with 20 or more employees. The law is quite complex and can be hard to understand.
