2018 Affordable Care Act (ACA) Rates

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) require insurance carriers selling qualified health plans, such as QCA Health Plan, Inc. and QualChoice Life and Health Insurance Company, Inc., to post a notice explaining the necessity of rate increases.

The principal factors driving our 2018 rates are:

  • An increase in the cost of medical care and in the use of medical services
  • Changes in the level of sickness of the members insured by QualChoice
  • Increased costs of participating in the Health Insurance Marketplace

QCA Health Plan, Inc., and QualChoice Life and Health Insurance Company, Inc. submit proposed rates to the Arkansas Insurance Department (AID) for approval. After review and a final decision on rate filings, asummary of the results is released by AID.

  • Increased costs of participating in the Health Insurance Marketplace
  • End of the Federal Transitional Reinsurance Program
